What, is that creepy? I'm not trying to be creepy. I would just burn it when you're away, so I could sleep and, you know, feel like you're there.

How did you make that, like, darker? Yeah. Okay, I'm gonna pretend I know what all of that meant.

What? I'm not an artist, okay? I'm not as smart and creative and adorable and sweet and incredible as you are.

We can all be perfect. Aw, you know you are, my sweet baby. Just keep drawing.

I don't know. I feel like drawing is such an integral part of being a person, you know? You grew up with animated shows, scribbling houses and families and elf suns shining above them.

Then it's superheroes and dragons. You spend your teenhood scribbling profanities and phallic symbols on bathroom stalls. Then, when you are, you know, a proper adult, you are sketching floor plans for new apartments and teaching your kids how to draw shapes and letters.

Or. .. Do you know the pig song? You sing it, and if you follow it, you get a pig.

It's like. .. Little circle, little circle, bigger circle, and then.

.. Mm, I can't remember the rest. I feel like that's a song you learn at grandparent status, you know? Because then you have to teach your grandkids how to draw a pig.

Knowledge must be passed on. It's incredibly important, but. ..

Really, you get to that age and then. .. Drawing is just signing off birthday cards with a heart.

Then someone like you comes along, and you still have the magic, that little thing we all wanted to do at some point. The thing we all did. You kept nursing it and working on it.

And it's just as enchanting as when we were five. Shut up, so what if I'm dramatic? I was answering your question.

It's healing, watching you draw, you know? Like watching cartoons on a Saturday morning. You look so tranquil right now.

Your face relaxes when you draw. It's so gorgeous. Until you're doing an expression, then.

You kind of copy it. You do too. You don't even realize you're doing it.

But if you're drawing someone, like. .. Remember that one time when you were drawing the girl with the lopsided smirk? You were raising her eyebrow or something.

Every time I passed you on the couch, I had to hold back laughter. It was one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Your little face was just twisting and turning, trying to figure out how to draw that expression.

Other times you just relax and hum. And your eyes, they look like a cat's. They just dart around the screen, glowing.

I get to enjoy your work and enjoy you at the same time. You're so good at it too. I.

So I just marvel at you. Look at you, all proud and smiley. I love you, honey.
