Hey man, it's good to see ya. Yeah, you too, you too. I don't know man, I feel a little bit underdressed for a party like this.

Yeah, well, if I get a little bit self-conscious, maybe I can just borrow your tie. Well, my last company, when we had, you know, parties like this, work parties, they were pretty casual. I thought I had dressed up nicely for this, and it turns out I'm one of the least dressed up people here.

I'm not all that worried about it. Yeah, this is much nicer than what I expected. Food's great, the drinks are great.

You're right, it is a little bit weird seeing the boss drinking and socializing. I'm just hoping I don't say something stupid. So tell me, you get everything wrapped up? Yeah? End of year reports are in and all that? Yeah, that's gotta be nice.

No, I didn't. I ran out of time to finish it, but I'm not far from being done. Yeah, yeah, Monday, first thing, I'm gonna bang it out.

I'll just come in about, you know, an hour early. I can finish it up. It's not a big deal, man.

Dude, I got a rule, okay? I do not let my co-workers set me up. Who are you gonna introduce me to here? The only people here who don't work with our company are the significant others of people who work at our company.

So obviously I'm not gonna go out with any of them. And no, I don't, it's just not great to mix my professional and my romantic lives. It's just, you know, where one begins, the other ends, they don't overlap.

Plus, I don't think you really know my type. No, you really kinda. ..

You're not gonna let this go, are you? Look, man, I just. ..

My last job, I went out with someone I worked with. We weren't even in the same department, okay? Yeah, we had some, you know, projects that we worked on together, but it's not like we were always on the same team.

And it just, you know, when it ended, it was just messy. It was uncomfortable for everyone. To be honest, it's part of why I left that job.

Yeah, there were other reasons, but that was definitely one of the factors that pushed me to float my resume elsewhere. All right, look, you can introduce me, but I'm not making any promises here. I'm not interested in getting set up.

I'm not. .. That's who you want to introduce me to? Cute doesn't even begin to describe it, man.

He's been telling you that I was dying to meet you, and he was going to make the introduction? That bastard. Okay, so I just got here a few minutes ago, and I'm sipping on my drink, minding my own business.

He comes up to me and tells me, hey, look, I really want to introduce you to this person. I think they're your type. I think you'd be great together.

And then, yeah, waves you over. So this is the first I've heard of any of this. Well, yeah, I recognize you from, you know, seeing you.

.. What department do you work in? Okay, yeah, so that.

.. You know, that explains it, because your office is over on the fourth floor, right? So, yeah, I'm up on six.

And, yeah, so I thought I'd seen you. I thought I recognized you, I guess, but. ..

Don't get me wrong, I'm really glad to meet you, and. .. I just, you know, it's not that I didn't want to meet you personally.

Well, that's what I told him. I said I don't really think he knows my type, but. ..

I'll tell you what, he's off to a pretty good start here. That's all you're getting for right now. I haven't had enough to drink to go any further than that.

Well, would you like to join me and go grab some food? And maybe tell me a little bit more about yourself. I thought we'd be great together.

What kind of. .. What kind of things are you interested in? Oh, yeah, what kind of music? You know, they're coming to town here in a few weeks.

Hmm. I may have checked online and seen that tickets were still on sale. Well, look into it, you know, it might be fun to go.

That turkey looks really good, doesn't it? Yeah, I'll take some potatoes, please. Hmm.

Yeah, you know what, it's a party. I am going to have a slice of pie. It's just fun, I think.

A lot of these traditional foods that you see at Christmas are the same ones that you see at Thanksgiving. But who cares? It's good, so.

.. Well, truth be told, I think you might know my type better than I thought you did. You caught my eye, yeah, the times I've seen you at work.

I would go so far as to say that you turned my head more than once. But you can't, you know, make it too obvious that you like what you see. Hey, if I've done a good job of hiding it, I'm happy about that.

So what do you like to do on dates? No reason, just curious. That sounds like fun.

It really does. Look, I've already been a little bit more forward than I usually am, especially on first meetings. And I'm usually not one for asking out someone that goes, that works.

I'm just, I'm all over tripping over my tongue here. Let me start this over. I usually don't date co-workers, even if they're in the same department.

I've made that mistake once in the past, and it just did not work out well. But. ..

I want to get to know you better. I like the way you carry yourself. I've seen the way you interact with me.
