Poem written about the lure and dangers of giving in to darkness and the shadow self.
Tapping out messages, against my skin, I can feel what you're saying without words, the need in each sound you make at the back of your throat, almost an animalistic grunt. Don't hold it back, let them hear, let everyone hear, more meaning than we give a credit for, the unwritten code, our impact in each steady repetitive movement, purposeful, full of fight and flight, the raised heart rhythm, the chewy skin, the rolling ocean pouring out from deep within. Don't cage me, tie me up, the difference is vast, one frees the spirit whilst the other keeps shadows as hiding places, just in case we need to flee, need to be someone else, something else, dark little holes, breathe both pleasure and pain, screaming without sound, unable to tell the difference between full and empty, when the vessel isn't free to feel.
