That smells really, really good. Can I help? Okay, that's fine, but don't forget that I'm making dinner tomorrow, okay? Yeah, but it's going to be a special one.

I've been excited to make it. As a matter of fact, there is something you can do. You can stop trying to get me to give my plans away.

Please. After all these years, you know perfectly well that I'm not going to tell you a damn thing. Touche.

Touche, it never has stopped you from pestering me. You know I'm totally fine with you pestering me, just as long as you're also okay with me telling you to take a hike. Well does dinner just need to simmer for a bit now? In that case, why don't you come on here in the living room with me and have a seat, get off your feet a little bit.

Oh I've just been looking at some old pictures, reliving some beautiful, beautiful memories. I think you'll remember them, yeah. Look at this one right here, do you remember that? The first trip we ever took together.

Look at those colors. They sure do use some bright paints in the Caribbean, don't they? Do you remember, do you remember that first night when we got there? Yeah, yeah that's the one.

And we went to the Airbnb and exactly, the property manager there had, remind me, she'd, someone had shown up early? What was it? That's right, yes, a couple had shown up a day ahead of their reservation for a different unit there in the complex.

She didn't even look at the reservation, at the names, she just knew she had a couple showing up that night, assumed they were us, gave them our place. And then she expected us to figure out something else for the night. As I recall, that was, it was a wonderful trip, but she was really something else, wasn't she? Yeah, do you remember what she said when she asked us not to, in our review, not to mention what had happened about her giving away our unit to someone else?

She didn't want to have a bad review and maybe, you know, get reprimanded by her boss. It's like, so wait, you, you screwed us out of the place we paid for, you put us up for a single night in a much smaller one, and then you want me to also lie for you so that you don't get in trouble for any of that? Honey, I don't think it works that way.

Oh, I just remember I was so happy to be with you. That's what I was excited about. Look at this one, what was that, was that our next trip? It was, it was a, it was a couple times later, right, when we went back there, not to the same apartment, but in the high rise, remember that?

And I think one of my favorite memories there was how we used to, we used to make dinner in that apartment and then go out on the balcony and have dinner out there every night. And you remember that time we made paper airplanes? What was that? Like the 10th floor balcony, something like that, 8th floor, yeah, it was high.

And I remember sailing paper airplanes off that balcony. Oh, that was fun. That was fun.

Yeah. Yeah, why don't you scroll through them here? Yeah, I do remember that trip.

And that was your first time skiing. Sweetheart, I think you did fine. Well, no, you weren't good, but you were a beginner.

Nobody expects a beginner to be good. I know I got the knack of it a lot faster, but I also spent my entire adolescence on rollerblades. It is very similar.

And maybe I'm just not as smart as you. Well, because I didn't really, it didn't occur to me that I could get injured. I think maybe you just have more of a sense of self-preservation than I do.

I think you did a fine job skiing that first time. I didn't see any problem at all with it. And besides, look how much better you are now.

Yeah, I am proud of you. After that first time, I wasn't sure you were ever going to want to go again. But you, um, well, you impressed me.

It takes a lot to face something like that, that frightened you and that made you uncomfortable, and say, I'm going to master this. It takes a lot. It takes determination.

It takes fearlessness. And then it takes all the work to master the skill in the first place. Sweetheart, it's one of the things that tells me that you're really just as strong as you decide to be.

And that's a wonderful quality to have. Oh, our boy. Look at that kid.

He's such a good kid. Yes, I know how old he is now. He's not a kid, but he's our kid.

Exactly. Sweetheart, I'm so proud of our boy. Look where he's gone with his life.

He found a terrific girl. From everything I can see, she's a great wife. She's a great mother for his kids.

She treats us wonderfully. Happy to have her as our daughter-in-law. But our daughter, right? And I'm proud of him.

Look at the man he's become. I'm proud of us. He's come a long way, hasn't he? Yes, I remember that.

I remember. Yes. How old was he? He was three, right? And he pooped in the bathtub.

Yeah. And then tried to blame it on the dog. Oh my gosh.

I don't think I'll ever forget that. Oh my. I'm not a kid.

Look at that one. That photo. You know, that's one of my favorite birthdays ever.

One time you took me to Disney. Took me to Disney. Sweetheart, it was so much fun.

I had a ball. Did you not have a ball? I had an absolute blast.

Although, you know, I still think that I should have written a letter complaining to them. Sweetheart, we waited in line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad three times. Three times.

And it broke down every single time in the course of one day. And I was looking at the app on my phone the whole time too. And it broke down at least six times that day.

Including the three that we were in line waiting for it. How hard is it to keep one of your signature attractions running? I'm sorry, but it just.

.. I was so irritated. I'm just glad that the next time we went we were able to ride it.
