Look, we've never really been the closest, okay? And I've never really talked to you in the way that I guess I should have been. But we've always had an understanding and an unspoken truth that we will look out for each other as siblings, right?

I'm your older brother, and I always try my best to make sure that you're okay. And that's been my fault, not talking to you, not truly being there for you. I recognize that now, because when I was small, you weren't here, you weren't born yet, and I wish I had an older brother or an older sister that would look out for me.

And now that I'm gone, now that I'm not here in the house, I don't have that chance to be that every day. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I failed you.

But I want you to know something. I want you to know that from this point on, from today on, look at me. Just look at me for a minute.

From this point on, from today on, you can count on me. It hasn't been easy for us as a family, especially with Mom and Dad and the way they treat us and how things happen in this house. But we have each other, and I'm going to be here for you.

If you ever want to escape, if you ever just don't want to be here, just call me. Don't text me. Call me.

You know I don't like texting. Call me and I'll pick you up, and you can stay with me, okay? I promise to always have some food in my apartment, and I'll let you take some because I've realized how honestly damaging it's been, our family has been, and how it's messed me up.

And I don't want it to mess you up the same way. I don't. I want you to be better.

I want you to be okay. And the only way to do that, the only way that you have a chance to be better off, is if I'm here for you and if I help you. And I promise you and I promise myself to do better and to be here for you, to truly be here for you whenever you need me, no matter what.

And I know that, specifically now, things aren't well here at home. Like, I know they're very bad, okay? I know what's going on.

And you don't have to be alone during this time. Even though I'm not going to be here, I am here for you, okay? You want to go out to eat? I'll pick you up.

You want to stay at home? You know, you want to stay at my apartment for a little while? You know, you can stay.

I want to make up for never being there for you, for truly being an older brother to you. And I want everything to be okay. I want you to be okay.

I know this is a lot in comparison to all the things that I've never told you before, that we haven't spoken about before, but I needed to say this. It needed to be said, and I'm glad that I said all this. I got to go to work, so I'm going to leave, but can I please hug you? Can you hug me? I want to hug you.

I love you. And I'm going to start saying that a lot more, too. I love you.
