And they got annoyed with you because what? Because your cousin had lost his job, and they didn't want you to be able to share your good news while he was upset about having lost his job? So they got annoyed at you for being successful and for having your own house and moving up in the world.

Sweetheart, they should be congratulating you for your successes, not putting you down. That's the cherry on top, isn't it? They actually made you leave.

I'm sorry, sweetheart. I'm sorry about all of it. I'm sorry that you had to face that with family who should be supporting you.

I'm sorry that I wasn't there to comfort you. Probably best that I wasn't, because after I told off your parents, I don't think I'd be welcome back. You know what, though? If they can't see what a wonderful job you're doing and be proud of you, that's on them.

That is their problem. But you don't need to put yourself down because you're doing well. No, no, no, stop right there.
