Open it. Hey. I climbed the tree to knock on your window, what's it look like I'm doing? I know we have plans for later this week, but I couldn't wait to see you, alright? I wanted to see you now.

I know your folks don't really like me very much, and it kind of makes it hard to get as much time with each other as we want to have, so I'm going to take what I can get when I can get it, right? Well I, yeah, I came with a reason. Look I've got an idea, I've got some plans for tonight.

Yes, tonight, like now. You know that overlook? The one that we drove by two days ago, and you wanted to get out and stop and look, but kind of had to keep going because we were late?

Yeah, you want to go? Right now? Look, you, you, you gotta come live a little bit.

Be a little bit spontaneous here, okay? Yeah, I know spontaneity gets me in trouble, I'm very well aware of that, but sometimes a little bit of trouble is a lot of fun. You don't have anything to worry about, no, you just come right out the window, no, do not go downstairs, you don't wake your dad up, you know he's a light sleeper, just come out the window right now with me, yeah, I'm parked just down the street, come with me, this branch is more than enough to support both of us, trust me, I'm out on a tree limb here, it's okay, give me your hand, come on, look at all those stars, nice part about driving a pickup truck, huh?

Sleeping bag and bed of the truck, you got a nice place to lay out and look at the stars. Look, um, I've been thinking a bit, yeah, it's no secret that your parents don't really like me, and normally I don't really care what people think of me, you know, I'm gonna be me, I'm gonna do what I want to do, and um, you know, people don't like that, that's their problem, not mine, but I know it's important to you that your folks like me, it's important to you that we get along and that I'm able to come over without having to sneak around or wait until they're gone, I get all that, and the thing is, well, what's important to you is important to me, yeah, that's what I'm saying, it is important to me that your parents like me, I know we got off to a rocky start, well, I said some things I probably shouldn't have, to be fair, so did your dad, maybe your dad was a total asshole to me, I'm not denying it, I was an asshole to him too, we were mutual assholes, that's fine, but it didn't get us off on, you know, to the start that you would've wanted, and so first thing I wanted to say is I'm sorry about that, I am, I really, if I could take it back I would, he was, you know, he got me really mad and I didn't think and I lost my temper and it wasn't okay, yeah, I know, don't tell anybody I got a conscience, okay, I don't want people to know, alright, so that's the first thing, it is important to me that your parents like me and I'm working on it, okay, your dad's gonna be a tough nut to crack, your mom maybe a bit too, but I think your dad, he's got it in for me now, I know, I know, he will come around, I'll win him over, I'm gonna do the right thing here and I will win him over, I'm willing to take as much time as it takes to get that to happen, okay, second thing is regardless of, you know, regardless what your parents think of me, I don't know what you've done to me, really, that's what I'm gonna say, what am I talking about, talking about who you're turning me into, no, you didn't do anything wrong, I just, I don't know, it's a little bit confusing for me, like I said, I've never cared much what people think of me, I've kind of always followed the rules that made sense to me and ignored a lot of the other ones, but with you, I just want to be better, if you breathe a word of this, you're dead, you got me, I've got a rep to maintain, okay, but it's true, you make me want to be a better man, you make me want to impress you, I want you to be happy with me, I want you to be proud of me, I didn't even care if my own parents were proud of me, this is a really weird feeling for me, okay, I guess this is what I must feel like to those kids who are like captain of every team in school and get straight A's and all this and seem to care so much what their parents think of them, it just wasn't me, and then I met you and all of a sudden, despite my best efforts, I actually find myself caring what someone thinks about me, well, I don't know if I'm saying thank you or screw you, maybe a little bit of both, you just made me want to be better, you're making me see that I can be a different version of who I am, a better version without losing who I am, so at the end of the day, I guess, yeah, I guess it really is thank you, well, look, all of this leads me to the third thing that I was gonna say to you, and it's the real reason that I came by tonight, no, I wasn't lying, I just, I wanted to say this to you when we have our date a few nights from now, but once I realized what I was gonna say, I couldn't wait, I had to share it with you, I had to share with you tonight, I've, gosh, you know, this was a lot smoother when I went through it in my head, shut up, okay, I can do this, I'm in love with you, yeah, I know, I kind of just dropped that out there, but it's true, I, you know, I've never really been in love, I've thought I was, thought I was a few times, but then I met you, and I started to really figure out what that means, because I got to where I was, you know, I liked you just as much as I'd liked other people I dated, and then it kept growing, and growing, and it still hasn't slowed down, the more time.
