I wouldn't say anything's wrong, I'm just a little bit surprised. Well, all the times you've been in this office with me, I don't think a single one of them's been during business hours. I expected to see you later today, certainly, but not right now.

You look troubled. What's on your mind? It's all right, take your time.

Certainly. Mm-hmm. Go on.

I see. I see. Well, I can't say that I really expected that, didn't see that coming, but I understand.

And if that's your decision, then I respect that. I won't try to talk you out of it. No, not at all.

I'm not saying that I want it to be over. I meant only to say that I understand how you're feeling. I think you said it perfectly well yourself.

Look, I feel the same way you do. We have a chemistry, a sexual chemistry that is undeniable. It's absolutely electric.

We have a connection. We see the world in many ways the same. We interact with people.

We interact with our environment in much the same way. It's one of the reasons that both of us are where we are today. Where we are today at the top of our respective companies.

It's how we've led our people to success. It's how we've served our shareholders. And when I see something that I want, I take it.

And when I can't, I don't give up. So, I understand where you're coming from. Just as you said that I'm a shadow in your mind at all times, you're always in my thoughts.

I find myself thinking about you when I should be paying attention in meetings. I find myself thinking about our last encounter as I get to know you. As I get ready for our next.

You're in my thoughts as I get ready for work. You're in my thoughts on my way home. And again, you put it very well yourself.

We have obligations to our employees. Obligations to our customers, to our shareholders, and to ourselves. Both of us worked very hard to get where we are.

It's not something to be sacrificed lightly. And what we have between us, while we may have intended at the outset for it to remain casual, it's grown. It's grown into something that is much bigger, much more powerful and influential than what we'd originally anticipated.

I understand. That's exactly, I'm on the same page. It's made it hard to focus, to concentrate, to make good decisions.

So, when you say we need to end it for our own sakes as well as for those who rely on us, I understand where you're coming from. And, yes, that's a very long-winded way of telling you that I understand, even though it's not what I want. To be fair, I didn't think it was going to get out of control the way it did.

I thought that we were going to be able to keep things casual. I thought that we were going to be able to keep things casual. More physical.

Less personal. I think that was a foolish, foolish thought. Because I find myself thinking of you, not just as my lover, but I find myself desiring you as a partner in all the aspects of my life.

Look, when we started, there was lust, a mutual attraction, a mutual attraction. But it's moved on from that. It's grown.

I will level with you. I want you. I want to take our relationship to the next level.

I want you to be mine. I just don't know if that can be. Yeah, exactly.

I don't know if it's possible at all. But it certainly isn't possible in the current paradigm in which we find ourselves. I want you to be mine, but I can't ignore the responsibilities that I have.

Those who rely on me, those who are counting on my hard work, my decisions. Let me tell you a story. I'm sure you already know it.

During the First World War, soldiers of different nations, opposing nations, called an armistice and celebrated Christmas together in the trenches. And afterwards, they found it very, very difficult to fight one another. They began giving each other warnings when to get out of the way, since they needed to launch artillery to keep up appearances.

And I find a parallel situation here. I find myself struggling I find myself struggling to make decisions that I know are beneficial to my company, but come with a cost to you. And I imagine you feel the same way.

At least I hope you do. Exactly. I can't fight trench warfare against you when I feel for you the way I do.

So as much as I want you to be mine, I don't think that's the reality in which we find ourselves right now. I also think it would be very selfish of me to let my personal feelings interfere with what you've worked so hard to achieve. I can't take that away from you.

I can't ask you to give up.
