Don't be afraid. There's nothing to be scared of. You are completely safe.
You are completely healthy. I am here to help you. To help you forget about your day.
To help you drift off and find safety in your dream. That is why I am here. To guide you.
To help you. To take all that tension out of these shoulders. You've been so tired, haven't you, my dear? You've been trying so hard.
Working yourself to death. Toiling. Worrying.
Giving everything you have. I know. I see you.
I see how much you give to the day. You do not grow unnoticed. I see you.
I see you giving everything you have. That is why I have come to you. For who is more deserving of a restful night's sleep? So first, we're going to focus on your breathing.
Something you often don't think about. You do it completely unconscious. But now, we're going to focus on the wonderful feeling of bringing air in and pushing it out.
Like waves on a shore. So peaceful. So natural.
In. And out. Mm.
Very good. You're focusing all your attention on the simple act of taking in oxygen and clearing your mind of all worry. Mm.
Very good. I know you haven't always found it easy. You have such a hectic life.
But then, when you crawl into your bed, the ability to sleep just seems so elusive. I know. You have a heavy mind.
So many things that burden you. So many worries and thoughts and complicated feelings. It is the sign of a deep person.
A person capable of many things. Of great achievement. Of great knowledge.
Of great love. And you are all these things and more. Which is why you find it so difficult to switch off and be selfish.
To completely unplug from everything and everyone. It's quite ironic, isn't it? That the people who preach good health are often the ones who neglect their own the most.
I know you find it difficult. I know you think it's selfish. But in truth, it is the furthest thing from selfish.
It takes a very strong person to know when they need help. And it takes an even stronger person to act on those feelings. And you are the first person to let others know that it's okay not to feel okay.
You do yourself a great service by not taking your own advice. And deep down, you know that. That's why you wrestle here in the dark.
That's why you feel frustrated and tired and impatient with yourself. There is no need. You have to learn how to be kind to yourself.
It is not the easiest skill to learn. Especially not for someone like you. But with time and patience, you will be rewarded for your efforts.
Can you hear that? The gentle rustle of the sheets? So calming.
So simple. And in a way, it's quite like kindness. It seems so trivial.
So basic. But just like these calming, simple sounds. If you draw your attention to being as kind to yourself as you are to others, you will start to notice its effect.
I know. I know, sweet one. Everything requires some effort.
Nothing we do in life is without toil. But if that is the case, we might as well make our toiling worthwhile. Don't you think? I think so, too.
You are completely safe. You are completely free. So please, allow yourself to feel it.
And simply drift away.
