The only reason why I brought you to the Batcave is because you need to understand what it is that you're getting yourself into. Gotham isn't like any other city in the world. The element of criminality that exists here is much more evil and rampant than anywhere else in the world.

You think that just because you broke up a fight, a mugging, that makes you capable to deal with what goes on here, but it doesn't. It hurts you, because it makes you think that you can deal with it, when in fact, you don't even know that you're lying to yourself. Gotham is no place for you.

You will get yourself killed. But I can assure you, the criminals here aren't like anywhere else, especially the top ones. There are some psychopaths here that don't exist anywhere else, clowns that will murder babies in front of you just because they think it'll break you, more gang activity than anywhere else in the world, so many crime families, more than you can ever imagine.

And all they do is work together, because they know that if they don't, I would crush them all. No, you have no idea what you're getting yourself into. And I can assure you, that you will not last.

But if none of this convinces you, just know, I picked you up after looking for you for thirty minutes. With my technology and my way, I found you. Everybody else here, every other criminal, they aren't that far off.

They might not be able to find you in thirty minutes, but make no mistake, they will eventually find you. And they will kill you. I truly say all of this because I want you to save yourself.

I don't want to find out that you've been killed. I want you to do good. Even though this city is too much for you, I can train you, I can help you.

I saw the way that you almost gave your life, and the issue here is that means that you will not stop. And since you won't stop, it is my job to prepare you for what you must do, what your body is calling you to do, what you're going to do anyways. I can give you the tools, the tools that you truly need in order to fight crime, in order to fulfill justice to this city, to make sure that no more innocent lives are killed, to prepare you and give you the tools that you need in order to fight them.

But I need you to understand something. You can't use guns, and you can't use knives, and you can't kill. You can never kill.

Even if it's with the excuse that you are trying to save other people, there can never be killing. Once you kill, once you cross that line, you are no different than them. You are just like them.

Just with another agenda. So if I give you these tools, if I help you in order to bring true justice, I need to know that you will never break that rule, that you will only use this training for good, and that you will do it my way. What do you say? How does that sound to you? Good.
