It's been a long day, why don't I run you a bath? While you soak and relax I strum my guitar and give you some positive things to think about. Plenty of time to breathe and relax from the day.
I think that's what they call the old bones in this house. The squeaky bit when I turn on the bath, but the size of the tub definitely makes up for it. There we go, stopper in, and it is filling up.
Well, you told me today was a bit of a long one, and I figured this might be nice, a nice little surprise for you. And the guitar, yes, I brought the guitar, and it's just about at the right temperature, I think. A little adjustment, a little warmer.
No, I know just how you like it. That should take a few minutes, but in the meantime, are you doing alright after your day? I'm glad you can relax and settle down a little bit now, and enjoy the rest of your evening.
I like doing things like this, the time we get to spend together. Seeing you in the bath isn't bad either, but. ..
Well, you know I tell you the same thing on long days that I do on short days. The good ones, they go by real fast. You go out there every day, and you give your best effort.
Every day. When you come back, you've had a long day, I know you've gone out there, I know you did everything you could do. And so do the people around you.
It's one of the benefits we all get from knowing you. So on good days, I like to celebrate you more. On long days, we celebrate and appreciate.
And sometimes we do the things that make our days a little more special. This is what I like doing for you. There we go, that's filling up.
It takes a while, doesn't it? While that finishes, do you mind if I warm up a little bit? Yeah, you should be able to get in.
There you go. Seeing that smile on your face, when I play this, makes my day so much better. What every day I get to spend with you is a good one, isn't it? That should be filling up now.
Another few seconds and you'll be fully captive. Encased in the bath with nothing to do but relax and breathe in and out. Getting the last of the hot water in there.
There. So for the next few minutes, you are going to lay there in the bath and soak and be warm and comfortable. I'm going to strum my guitar for you.
And we're going to chat about a few things. Like what a pleasure it is to know you. And how I enjoy spending time with you.
And that no matter what the day brings, whether it's good or bad, long, short, full, empty, whimsical, sad, scary, exciting. We find the good and the joy and we do it together. Sometimes it looks like this.
This is one of my favorites, actually. Sitting here with a captive audience. Just strumming away.
While you lay there, close your eyes. Rest your body. Breathe for me.
In. And out. Out.
There you go. In. And out.
Now keep doing that. Those deep breaths in and out. In and out.
Feel your body relax. If you can manage to sit still. There you go.
There you go. And put yourself anywhere you'd like to be. I know here is good, but pick yourself out a set of surroundings.
Anywhere. I know you don't like making decisions. But this isn't one I can make for you.
Unless you like suggestions, in which case my suggestion is the mountains. Shocked, I'm sure. What's it look like? Where are you? What can you see? What can't you see? What's hidden, hiding perhaps? The hot water.
More. So when you have used up absolutely all of the hot water, we will continue with our pseudo meditation. Are we settled? Are we warm? Good.
Now you were imagining yourself somewhere, anywhere. Somewhere you like, somewhere you can relax. You were telling me about what you can see.
And I want to know what you smell as well. And I want to know what you smell as well. Trees or fresh air? The ocean perhaps? Flowers? A particular house? A particular person? What do you hear? Are there birds? Are there other people talking? Do you hear a purring perhaps? Or a comforting familiar voice? What could you touch around you? Oh yes, here there's lots of water.
In your space, is it sand between your fingers? A crunchy leaf? A warm hug? A warm hug.
All of those things that make your space yours. And the memories or the thoughts or the feelings, they make it special to you. That's what I want you focused on.
You want to tell me about it? Go ahead. I'd love to hear.
Go ahead. I'd love to hear. That's fantastic.
That's lovely. It sounds like exactly what you need today. What a great place to be.
Still breathing over there. We're shuffling around. In.
And out. In. And out.
Is it getting cold in there? Yeah. It's about time, huh? Go ahead.
Are you going to lay there until it empties, aren't you? Well, as long as you keep breathing. Well, as long as you keep breathing.
I suppose we can allow it. I suppose we can allow it.
