Thank you so much for your questions! In this Q&A, you'll hear me talk about the most romantic thing I've done, why I chose to learn Spanish and, most importantly, whether I'd fight 1 hippopotamus sized duck or 100 duck sized hippopotami.
Hey Moonbeams, hope everybody's doing well. It is time for your August Q&A with me now I want to start off with a couple things. First off, you have been very patient with me in the month of August.
As I've had a very abnormal release schedule, I've delayed a couple of your early access things and a lot of stuff's clustered at the end of the month, I really appreciate your patience I was on vacation. And so away from my recording equipment and everything, for the first couple weeks of the month, I tried to record in advance at the end of July so that I had everything ready to go, or a lot of it ready to go. And my laptop two days before I was supposed to go, my laptop died.
And I troubleshot it and I I mean, I used Amazon getting me things the next day to try a couple different components to see if I can get it to work. And unfortunately, I ended up having to record a couple of audios on my tablet. So the sound quality was not quite as, you know, wonderful as I was hoping for, as you're all are used to.
So that was fun. And it kept me from recording a little bit more than I or quite as much as I wanted. So thank you very much for your patience.
And I'm working on getting my feet back under me getting back up to speed. So please bear with me as I do that. Interesting thing is last month, we had a problem where I had like, very few questions.
And so I took stuff from Curious Cat. Y'all responded. I got a lot of questions here.
So and they got some of them are pretty interesting, I think is a good word to use things that I hadn't heard of before. So without further ado, well, and I apologize in advance if I mispronounce any names, feel free to let me know if I if I mispronounce them and try to help me figure them out. And here we go.
Jen asks, What is the best movie you've seen in the theater? I honestly, so I don't go to the theater all that much I used to go a lot more when I was in college and anymore just with the day job and and and all my various obligations in life. I just don't get out to the theater as much as I as I used to or would like to.
Probably the best movie I think I've seen I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan, as you all know, and I would say all of the Lord of the Rings movies, but especially Return of the King. I remember seeing the Battle of Helinor Fields on the big screen. That was just amazing.
And this was many years ago as much younger. I don't remember quite as well as as I do from subsequent viewings since then. But I do remember just being blown away, just too blown away.
She asked, Does knowing how supportive your supporters are get you through times where you don't feel like recording? Honestly, it does. I know.
Well, there have been times when recording has been a little bit tough for various reasons, some of them personal, some of them, you know, I've hit recording blocks in the past. And knowing that I am helping a lot of people, knowing that I'm providing a voice of comfort, friendship, love, reassurance, positivity, etc. Really means a lot to me.
I also feel an obligation to my listeners, especially those of you that are actually, you know, joining my Patreon and, and, and actually paying money for content, you know, I do have a very real obligation to y'all. But even for those who are, you know, only just enjoying my public offerings, I know, as an audio listener myself, that I've really looked forward to releases from my favorite creators. And I know how people really look forward to these things.
And I like to, I like to make people happy. I like to help people out. So I, you know, between the obligation that I feel as well as just knowing that I'm loved and supported by people, it really has helped me get through some challenging stuff.
Rudina asks, Sushi or pineapple pizza? That's a no brainer. It's sushi all day long, every single day.
And I mean, just no brainer. And pineapple pizza is great, but sushi. Philosophy book, history book, self-improvement book, or novel, what will you choose? Probably I'd go with a novel.
Most of the stuff that I like to read is fiction. And I don't know, I just kind of gravitate that way most of the time. I have a crush on someone.
I don't know if he likes me or not. And I just want advice. How can I catch his attention? Well, you know, I would say if you're able to, try to establish a friendly relationship with this person.
You know, romantic relationships, the best ones are built on a strong underlying friendship where the folks involved are best friends as well as romantic partners. You know, you wanted a good solid friendship underneath your romance so that you can have that person be your confidant and your ally, and you can be theirs. So try to establish a friendly relationship.
Find out common interests that you can discuss, that you can engage in together. Try to get closer to him. Listen to him.
Listen to the things that make him tick. Listen to the things he's thinking, and help him get to know you, and support him in things that are important to him. And then, you know, we live in a brave new world here of empowerment for everybody.
Go ahead and ask him out. Why not? So just kind of various things you can do to catch someone's attention and grow that relationship.
Danae Leary asks, what superhero or villain do you think would make a good therapist? Well, there's a couple I'd say. Honestly, Captain America seems like just a really stand-up dude.
He seems like he'd be a really good listener. He'd listen to your problems. He'd give good advice.
I would say also, you know, Spider-Man as Tobey Maguire. Seems like he'd be a good listener, but he also might get a little bit teary-eyed during your session. So maybe don't go that way with him.
Sarah Ruth asks, have you seen the Bo Burnham special? If so, I'd love to hear your perspective slash opinion on it as a content creator. I have not seen the Bo Burnham special, so I'll have to check that out and report back.
Ask me again sometime. Ana asks, what do you do when you can't fall asleep? Well, if you lie in bed for more than about half an hour without being able to sleep, it's usually best to get up and change something.
Get out of bed, get a snack, get something to drink, read a book, play a video game. Something like that to disrupt that monotony of not being able to sleep and then go back to bed. Usually what I'll do if I can't sleep is I'll eventually get up, I'll spend 20 minutes or something watching a show, and then try again.
That said, I'm usually exhausted enough that I have no trouble falling asleep, to be honest. Cuddlebug asks, what is the most romantic thing you've done for someone and what is the most romantic thing someone has done for you? So I dated someone at one time that what I was in the habit of doing as much as I could was I was up before she was in the morning, and so I would send her very sweet, loving texts that she could wake up to.
I know it put a big smile on her face, made her feel very loved. It was nice to her to know that I was thinking about her and taking the time to write those. And then the most romantic thing someone's done for me, you know, one of the most, sometimes the smallest of gestures can really hit home in a big way.
I was dating at one point. We were having some time, we were just spending time together and sitting on the couch and she gave me a kiss and then looked at me and just kind of turned her head to the side a little bit and said, looked me right in the eyes and said, I love you. And boom, I mean, it's like hit me right in the heart.
Very, very touching, very sincere and meant a lot to me. Just Hannah says, what is your, she asks, what is your favorite motivational quote? This may seem a little bit counterintuitive, but it is something that Anne Morrow Lindbergh said, and I think you've probably, if you listen to my Q and A's, may have heard me say it before, but she said, my life cannot implement an action.
The demands of all the people to whom my heart responds. The reason that's motivational for me, sometimes when we think, when we feel like there are too many things to do, too many tasks, too many different things to care about, we get paralyzed into inaction and there's very realistic take on things here. There are so many worthy causes.
I can't devote my life to every one of them. So what that says to me is find the things and the people and the causes and whatever that are most important to me, things where I can make a difference and make the difference I can make. And it's like I said, a little bit counterintuitive that that's a motivational thing, but to me it is.
Which TV show or movie can you watch over and over again? I absolutely love Arrested Development. I've seen the first three seasons all the way through, like probably a dozen times.
And that's actually one of my shows when I can't fall asleep, I'll, I'll pull up Netflix and watch an episode of Arrested Development. So yeah, that's, that's a lot of fun for me. If you could give your teenager self an advice or piece of wisdom, what would you say? I would tell myself to relax and that it's all going to work out.
I spent a lot of my life worrying about many, many things, many of them out of my control and you know, just wrapped around the axle about stuff. And so I would tell my teenage self, relax, dude, it's all going to be okay. Enjoy the journey.
Don't focus so much on the destination that you miss the beauty where you are. How do you drink your coffee or tea? Well, I'm actually sipping a mug of buttermint tea right now.
There that is. Not much of a coffee drinker. In fact, the drinks I like are herbal teas.
And I typically drink them just plain without any sweetener or anything. Sometimes I like the, the, you know, hint of a bitter taste on some of them. Or the, or the, the sourness of some of them.
Others are very smooth, very, some are very sweet. Buttermint tea is probably, is one of my very favorites. It's a very smooth minty vanilla flavor and it's, it's delightful.
Can you tell us the story of your favorite mugs, i.e. what they look like, where you've got them from, how long you've had them, why they're special? Yeah, I probably my favorite mug is a very large one with Mickey Mouse all over it.
And that was sent to me by a very, very dear friend who, who, you know, I, I'm, I'm a big fan of, I'm a, I'm a Disney dude. And this friend knows that I really love Disney Mickey Mouse and went to the mall, found that for me and gave it to me. And it just was a really sweet gesture.
You know, this is someone who's very dear to me and this very sweet gesture where they were thinking about things that actually, you know, would resonate with me thinking about things that I like and pick something out specifically for me because I would like it. So that one's very, very special to me. One of my other special mugs is one, the one that I'm drinking from right now, and I'm not going to tell you what it looks like because it is a reference to my day job, but that's one of the reasons it's one of my favorites.
So, or that's the reason it's one of my favorites. Brianna asks, which movie do you wish life was more like? I'm going to go with inception because I would love to like be able to enter people's dreams and steal secrets and stuff and like plant, you know, ideas in their minds.
Like that movie was pretty awesome. I would totally be Leonardo DiCaprio in that one, except he's way better looking than me. Unrefined Sugar says, do you have any upcoming releases, movies, music, et cetera, that you're excited to see?
Well, yeah, kind of, you know, I'm not looking forward to any, any real movies or music coming out, although I do have concert tickets for a couple of weeks from now. I'm very excited about that. But there's a, there's a British TV show that I'm watching called Love Island and it's, it's great.
And, and so I really look forward to seeing the new episodes of those as they come out. I'm very interested to see the conclusion of the season. It's on season seven right now.
And it's, it's just, it's a great show, great show. Who is an artist you think is underrated and why should we check them out? Well, there, there's a few.
So some of you, especially if you've been on my server or, well, I actually sing one of their songs in a couple audios or singing in, singing in two, maybe two. There's a now defunct band called Colors from out West in the United States. And they were three voices, two usually acoustic guitars and bongo drums.
And just really, it's clean music, it's, it's wholesome, very catchy. These guys had, you know, they, they're, they're best friends from high school. And so they really had a good chemistry between them and their voices just go beautifully together.
And, and so, like I said, they're, they're defunct now, but you can find them on Spotify Colors. There's also a Japanese rock band called Spitz, spelled S-P-I-T-Z, you've probably heard me plug them before. Now, these guys are 30 years into their career.
They're one of the best selling recording artists in Japanese history. They've got 16 albums, I want to say, of which I have all but the latest. And they're just a fabulously good band, just wonderful, wonderful artists, musicians, great songs.
And we, here in the United States, they're virtually unknown. The way I found out about them is that one of my colleagues is Japanese. And I asked her, you know, recommend some Japanese music to me, she said, well, there's a band I used to listen to, and they're, they're just great.
So they really are good. And then there's a, there's a duo of brothers called Evan and Jaron that, that they only made a few albums, they, they broke up years ago, because Evan wanted to marry and settle down and have a family and focus on that. You can't blame him for that, you know, live your life, dude.
But their, their self titled album is, is just great. Talk about guys with great chemistry and voices that play very well together. These guys are identical twins, actually.
And, and Jaron went on to, he went on to do some solo work, I'm not sure how many albums he put out, I know of at least one. All right, this, this is one of the more interesting questions I've ever had. So thanks for this sugar.
Would you rather fight one hippopotamus sized duck or 100 duck sized hippopotamuses, hippopotamuses or hippopotami? I'd go with the latter, 100 duck sized ones, because you never said I couldn't like take my car and just like run them over. But I'd have problem with that hippo sized duck, because ducks are mean too, like, they'll take you down.
So it doesn't matter that they don't have teeth. Shy Shadow asks, Do you really get upset about Netflix slash series cheating? I don't love it.
But I mean, what's to get mad about, you know, I, there's very little that's worth getting actually mad about. So but you know, I generally haven't had that problem. When I'm watching a show with someone, we typically stay together on it.
If you know someone else has already seen a show or movie, will you ask them to spoil it for you? Oh, hell, yeah. Like, all the time.
I'm notorious for that. And I'll tell people, I'll pretend to be surprised, you know, and that never works. So will you end up doing that for others? Well, usually I try and they tell me don't tell me don't tell me and I mostly respect that.
So if you could only pick one, would you rather read the book or watch the movie? It really depends on what's going on in my life. I think if I have time to read a book, and how interested I am in in what it is, you know, if it's something where I really have a lot of interest, and I want to devote a lot of time, probably the book.
If it's something not quite as interested in the movie is probably gonna be good enough. And for the best of like Lord of the Rings, I'll do both multiple times. Shaina or Shaina, sorry, if one of those is well, one of them has to be wrong.
I hope that both of them aren't. Do you have any favorite board games and or party games? Yes.
So there's a well, there's a card game called Millbourne. It's a classic French racing card game. And my family was a kid we used to, we had a copy of it and we used to play this family and it's just a really fun game.
I'm a big fan of Sherlock Holmes, and there is a game called 221B Baker Street. It's a it's a board game where there's a case you have to go around different locations on the board to get clues and then put together. I mean, it's different every time is sometimes it's the motive, the murderer, the way they killed the person.
Other times it's who stole this or that, you know, but it's just a really good game. There's a bunch of expansion packs and it's a lot of fun. And then there's a game called Secret Hitler, which is just awesome, and I highly recommend it to everybody.
It's just a really fun game. It involves it's a party game. There's a lot of suspicion, shade being thrown around.
Nobody knows who the fascists are who are trying to take over the government. And it's a it's a really, really fun game. I've had a ball every time I played it.
Tisha asks, What is your favorite quote from the.
