Aizawa explains the different type of folding knives in order to gift you one...
Now, I need you to pay attention. A lot of attention. We are going to be handling knives, and that is very, very dangerous.
So, before I start showing you the types of knives that I have, and the ones that you can pick from, you must understand that when dealing with knives, you have to be very careful. Just as careful as any firearm. Now, the only reason why you are getting a knife is because you must use it for good.
You are on your way to be a pro hero, and a lot of people don't know this, but I do have a dagger behind my back all the time. I only use that dagger against particularly dangerous criminals, not against, well, the usual ones. Right now, I want you to always have a knife.
Everyone should have one. Whether you need to cut a piece of meat, whether you need to cut a piece of rope, it's always better to have one, and not need it, than need it, and not have it. So, I will be teaching you the types of knives, so that if you ever come across one, you know how to use it.
Knives rarely change. The only thing that changes is how you open it. Most knives are pretty easy.
Others are a little difficult, and it's better that you know how to open all of them, than not know how to open one. So, here we go. I broke out my collection, so you could see it firsthand, and hold them.
We'll start with a regular folding knife. Now, there are different kinds of folding knives. All of them, well, fold.
They're always closed, like this one. Now, this is a ball-bearing folding knife. What that means is, inside there's a tiny little spring for the ball bearing.
The ball bearing holds it closed, and it uses tension to release it. However, you have to use it with your finger to push that little pivot right there. When you push it, it opens up with force, but you have to push it at a 45 degree angle with your thumb.
It'll open just like that. As you can see, it is completely smooth from the top and the bottom. There's nothing sticking out of it.
It's a perfect straight line. Then, as you can see, it's very sharp. This is one of my favorites.
It's the one that I keep in my pocket all the time. Now, to close it, you have to push these down. You see that? It is a little difficult.
Once you get the hang of it, just push down a little bit, and then you close it. Now, this, the next one, is a spring-assisted knife. You see this tiny little divot on the back? When you push your finger into that, it opens very easily.
This, I would say, is my favorite knife that I think everyone should have. Everyone should have this type of knife. Now, this one right here, this is surgical steel.
It is exceedingly sharp. Very dangerous. Now, most knives, they have this on the handle.
You can push apart this little piece, and then push the knife down back into it, like that. Again, you push into this tiny little divot on the back. It'll open just like that.
Then you push down here on the handle, and then push the blade, and boom, it's closed. It's another good knife. Now, there are folding knives that you literally just open with your hands.
You cannot open it with one hand. You have to grab the blade and pull it open. Then you push on the back a little tiny button that will be there on the spine.
Push it, and then you'll be able to close it again. I don't have one of those right now, but that's the typical folding knife. You following? Good.
Now, these are my favorites. They are the ones that are a little more expensive, but I think they are by far the best. These are called OTF knives.
OTF stands for out the front, because it literally means that the blade comes out of the front. It should say out of the top, or O-T-T, basically, out the top. That's what I think it should be called, but it says out the front.
Now, you see that opening at the top of the blade? You see the handle, right? It's just a handle, kind of like a lightsaber.
Technically, basically the same as a lightsaber. Yes, I do like Star Wars. You open the top right here.
You see this button that's like a switch? It's a perfect switch. When you push up, the blade just comes right out.
Then you push it down, and it closes. See? This, I think, is the best knife, because the blade comes out so quickly, and it's very easy to hold this behind your back.
Without looking, find the switch and open it, just like that. Now, this one has it on the handle, right on the outside, so it does protrude a little bit on your grip. There are others, like this one right here.
This is my favorite knife, where it is on the side, on the thin side of the handle, not on the thick side. On the thin side, and there you are. It opens up rather nicely, and it closes too.
Open, close. You try. There you go, just like that.
Now, out of these, I'll let you pick one for you to take. I want it to be your gift, since you're about to be a pro hero. It's my gift to you for being ready, and for listening.
Now, the difficult question is, which one would you like? It's up to you. Go ahead, pick it out, and we'll go get something to eat to celebrate.
So, which one would you like?
