I've noticed that you have a lot of trouble sleeping. Don't worry, stay up, talk with me, or at least I'll talk with you. I just really want to help you see why you think you have such a problem sleeping, especially from someone who's had a lot of trouble sleeping over so many years.

I feel like these things, these problems that we have, us insomniacs, well, it stems from a much deeper, graver problem than anybody really understands. It's okay that you might be one of us, or that you're like me. There's always something to learn from all these things, and even though it might seem like it'll never get better, it's just something you have to learn how to deal with and live with.

I've come to terms with it, and I have somehow made it a little bit better just by learning about it and learning about myself. You see, if I could tell you something, something I've never told anyone else, there are many things that I don't understand about the world, that terrify me about the world, that keep me up at night. These things, they cloud my mind, they make it restless, it doesn't let me catch a moment of peace ever.

They're always there, they always make themselves known, these problems and these things that I view. But that's the smallest problem that I have to deal with. The other problem is just not being able to sleep because of it.

It's like I've said, the main problem is these problems. They're always in my head and I'm always thinking about them. And it is because of that, that I am unable to sleep.

The problem then becomes two-fold, it becomes too much, my mind is always full of noise and sleep never arrives. Is that how you feel? Yeah.

I see. What I want you to understand is that you aren't the only one. I know that people use that line a lot for a lot of different things, a lot of different problems.

But I'm using it because you know me and I don't want you to feel alone. I want you to understand that I have this too. Insomnia is horrible, it's exhausting, but you don't have to go through it alone.

I'm here, I can help you through it. It can be somewhat relieving. It is to me, knowing that other people are like me.

It doesn't help with how I have to deal with it personally, how I have to learn, how I've had to learn how to deal with it. But maybe you're able to notice that as well. And you're able to encounter yourself and question yourself on why you are like this too.

What are the real problems that you're struggling with underneath? And how can you, truthfully, finish them off? How can you deal with them every day and every night? That is the question you have to make.

And once you arrive at the answer, you might be a little step closer to understanding and to being able to truly work out your problems. Or at least keep them at bay for a little while. For a couple of hours.

So you can take deep breaths, close your eyes, and go to that place that you've never been to. You can sleep. You can rest.

Now I will give you something that might help you. You know the spot near the lake, the pond on the east side. There's a bench there.

I like to sit there at night sometimes when I really can't sleep. It's just me and the ducks. I'm telling you about this spot so you can go there.

I'm willing to share it with someone else, and why not let it be you? Go there whenever you need it. You can go there now if you want.

Or you can just sit there and look at the pond. Reflect off the moonlight. What do you think? You want to go?
